Herb Drying Workshop with Karen Beitler

Come learn how to dry herbs to preserve and use for the months ahead once the garden has already gone dormant for the winter months. We will use herbs from our herb garden at the farm. Karen will demonstrate how to clean and prepare a few different kinds of herbs before drying them. She will show how a food dehydrator is utilized to dry herbs and also talk about other methods that can be utilized for drying.
Bio: Karen Beitler has been teaching Science for over 20 years. A former Medical Technologist Karen graduated from Calumet College of St Joseph and received a Masters of Science in Environmental Science Education for NOVA Southeastern University. Currently she teaches Ap Environmental Science, Biology and Physical Chemistry at James Hillhouse High School. In addition, she is a Future Leader and Teacher Facilitator for New Haven. Ms. Beitler enjoys exploring and learning, being outdoors, gardening and traveling and sharing knowledge.
